Literally, Banh Mi means biscuit (Banh) and flour or wheat (Mi). However, it is actually a Vietnamese style sandwich. The bread used at Soop is a soft, French baguette, specially baked for Banh Mi, with the perfect balance of crispiness and tenderness. For fillings, the customer has their choice of meat (BBQ Beef, Pulled Pork, Roasted Pork or Roasted Chicken), or organic tofu. All have their advantages: the beef is thick and juicy, the pulled pork is a nice fusion of southern BBQ sauce and the Vietnamese condiments, the roasted pork is salty sweet, the chicken is succulent and light, and the tofu is soft and obviously the best for vegetarians. Overall, the sandwich is a great choice for lunch or dinner, and even goes great with a side of hot soup.
Key Ingredients: Soft French baguette, meat of choice (beef, pork, chicken) or tofu, and condiments (house-made pickled vegetables with organic daikon, organic carrots and organic cabbage, fresh cucumbers, jalapeno peppers, and cilantro).
